Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are the most comfortable, temperate seasons to explore the Yellow River heartland. Days are mild and skies clear, ideal for the Terracotta Warriors, Pingyao and mountain walks. Summer runs hot, winter cold — so most travellers choose spring or autumn.

Summer and winter: what to expect / 夏冬两季：气候须知
Summer (June to August) can be hot across Xi’an, Shaanxi and Shanxi, so pack light, breathable clothing and stay hydrated on full sightseeing days. Winter (December to February) turns cold, with crisp, quiet sites and far fewer crowds — rewarding for travellers who don’t mind the chill and pack warm layers.

Hukou Waterfall through the seasons / 壶口瀑布的四季变化
Hukou Waterfall, the largest waterfall on the Yellow River and shared by both of our tours, generally flows most dramatically during the rainy and autumn months, when the river runs full. In deep winter parts of it can freeze into ice formations. Nature varies year to year, so we describe these tendencies generally rather than promise any particular spectacle on the day you visit.

Do Singaporeans need a China visa? 新加坡人需要中国签证吗？
No. Ordinary Singapore passport holders do not need a China visa. Since 9 February 2024, Singapore and mainland China have a mutual 30-day visa-free arrangement and our tours run within 30 days; travellers on other passports should check their own nationality’s rules. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from departure.
